Silver's Blue is a studio album by American jazz pianist Horace Silver recorded for the Epic label in 1956 featuring performances by Silver with Joe Gordon, Hank Mobley, Doug Watkins, and Kenny Clarke and another session with Donald Byrd and Art Taylor replacing Gordon and Clarke. Silver, Mobley, Watkins, and Byrd all had recently left The Jazz Messengers. These were Silver's first sessions as a leader after leaving the Messengers.

Horace Ward Martin Tavares Silver (September 2, 1928 – June 18, 2014) was an American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger, particularly in the hard bop style that he helped pioneer in the 1950s. After playing tenor saxophone and piano at school in Connecticut, Silver got his break on piano when his trio was recruited by Stan Getz in 1950. Silver soon moved to New York City, where he developed a reputation as a composer and for his bluesy playing.

The first classic album by the Horace Silver Quintet, this set is highlighted by "Señor Blues" and "Cool Eyes.

Horace Silver never did much for me on the several occasions when I caught him live: his compositions were showcased at the expense of musicians' solos, and Horace's piano work-with its limited technique and "catch-phrase" melodies-would pale considerably if another pianist were on the same concert bill. It's funny to think that the very first Horace Silver Quintet record was released by Columbia not Blue Note. But their 2-album deal required both Horace and Art Blakey to deliver another record to Columbia. Art produced Hard Bop and Horace produced Silver's Blue, which actually landed on Epic, Columbia's less prestigious sister label. After 3 years and 7 records, Horace and Art had gone their separate ways, with Silver retaining all of the Messengers and Art starting fresh.
