As yet, the only album by MC/producer duo Madvillain, featuring MF DOOM rapping and Madlib producing. Despite being a heavy underground release, it made it to number 179 on the US Billboard 200, and has since been recognised as a classic album. It was more through telepathy. We spoke through the music. Although a Madvillainy 2 has been rumoured for many years, Madlib told a publication in 2012 it is unlikely: I handed all the beats to DOOM years ago, but ever since he’s been in Europe, he’s been hard to get a hold of. I feel it probably won’t happen, but you never know. I can’t sit and wait on that. Madvillainy Q&A.

Madvillain is an American hip hop group consisting of two MCs and producers, MF DOOM and Madlib. Their debut album Madvillainy was met with wide critical acclaim for its unique approach-short songs, obscure lyrics, few choruses and a sound which was generally unfriendly to commercial radio. In 2006, Madvillain was featured on Stones Throw Records and Adult Swim's DVD/CD Chrome Children with a new song and live performance. Kidrobot followed this by announcing a Madvillain action figure.

Talk about Madvillain - Madvillainy

Can anyone recommend which is the best pressing, seems like their are some bad pressing / represses out there. Thanks
Rude
The MASTERDISK pressing is amazing and authentic. Countless subsequent presses are hit and mostly miss. It does seem that the last batch or so are. bait better than most. I've heard about 5-6 different runs and the lighter weight original presses (with "MASTERDISK"stamp) always come through with more fidelity

Everybody loves this almost... Well I do, too. Still relevant and interesting and impressive 14 years lateroony.Enjoyability/Variety/Appeal/Originality/Skills=100%TT score: 19/15/18/18/19=89%

So the STH2065-SC MASTERDISK is 140grams, The STH2065C S60434 DJ is 180grams. I found the 180gram to have less treble and it also lacked a high pitch tingy like sound that the MASTERDISK pressing had throughout. Interestingly the 180gram pressing is more compressed grooves with more dead wax in the center, especially on SIDE A. It is a significant amount different.

Not positive and it’s not 24 tracks, but, pretty sure that was the Four-Tet Remixes b/w Instrumentals, yea?

Hello there, I bought a 2006 RE which was advertised as a sealed '04 original US press. There seems to be no way to tell between the two versions if they're sealed. Can anyone tell me otherwise as I'd like the better sounding og pressing? Thanks
the monster
On the back of the CD, there's some small text in the bottom left corner. USUALLY, when the album is pressed, it mentions the original release date and if it's re-release, it'll also show the year it was newly released. So if you see 2004, then you see the date 2006 that shows it's a newly pressed copy
Freaky Hook
Does anyone else get a "Trout Mask Replica" feel to this album? The Steve Reich piece that's sampled at the beginning of America's Most Blunted was a favorite of Don Van Vliet. Don's buddy, Frank Zappa, is sampled, the bulk of his short but wonderful composition "Sleeping In A Jar." Even the cover of this album even reminds me of TMR. Madlib and MF Doom have a lot of influences, I'm sure they dig Beefheart and Zappa. This album is like the hip hop Trout Mask Replica. Breaking the mold in such a crazy bold way, odd rhythms and funny but thought-provoking lyrics that command attention, mad skills and otherworldly chills by the minute, mixing everything together to put out something enjoyable and truthful released to please millions by the ear-full. How do you do?

Anyone else get the silver limited edition LP yet? Looks pretty cool.
