Please is the debut album by English electronic music duo Pet Shop Boys, released on 24 March 1986 by Parlophone Records in the United Kingdom and by EMI America Records in the United States. According to the duo, the album's title was chosen so that people had to go into a record shop and say "Can I have the Pet Shop Boys album, 'Please'?".

Pet Shop Boys recorded the album in London, Berlin and Los Angeles from November 2012 to April 2013. Stuart Price was chosen to produce the album When Pet Shop Boys began working with Price, they made it clear that they wanted to make a "dance record"

Alternately scintillating and smirking, Pet Shop Boys’ 12th album marks a ‘return to the dancefloor’ for the veteran synth-pop pair, and an almighty raising of the tempo after last year’s polite ‘Elysium’. Anticipation has been high, largely because – some almighty live performances aside – the PSB’s prolific last decade has been a little dry in the fun stakes. And ‘Electric’ undeniably sounds like it was an absolute hoot for Neil Tennant, Chris Lowe and producer Stuart Price to make

It will be interesting to see how Tennant/Lowe handle this album via their x2 label they've already broken a good amount of conventional rules upon releasing the album and it looks like it's paying off maybe they will break more rules and not limit this album to a handful of songs, but possibly a good 3/4 of the.

Talk about Pet Shop Boys - Electric

Dilmal
Beautiful pressing. Sounds way better than the mp3 version (only other version I have). The album itself is just magnificent. Stuart Price's production here brings back a sound we haven't heard from Pet Shop Boys in a long while. Remember in the early 90's they put out a very limited and very experimental EP called Relentless? Yeah, this is what Electric reminds me of (and how I would LOVE to have Relentless on vinyl!). And it's more wonderful for it! The closing track "Vocal" is one of the best dance tracks PSB have ever recorded!
Trash
Excellent sound quality on this Parlophone UK 2 LP set. Remember, Parlophone U.S. releases are usually pressed by Rhino Records (and that is hit and miss with quality ) Spend a little extra and get the U.K. editions of Parlophone, it's worth it.
Άνουβις
It's not on Parlophone. Pet Shop Boys started their own label, x2, in 2013 through Kobalt Label Services.

Another fake item from the Russian folks that flood Pet Shop Boys releases with their very high quality bootlegs. Do not be fooled, this is an ilegal release.

It's a pretty quiet press. Sounds great, tho. Love this album.

How absolutely stunning is this work of art by Farrow Design, the Pet Shop Boys, and Vinyl Factory.Supberly crafted.Definitely a museum quality piece of musical art.To be displayed with pride. And just to be seen, not touched. Vinyls are not meant to be played. For that, a regular vinyl version of the record can be used. One of the very top gems produced during the Pet Shop Boys illustrious career.
Munimand
Records are meant to be played though... I'd spin these at least once even if I paid 1,500 for them. Plus if you're buying something like this then you're probably not planning on selling it anyways.
Micelhorav
You don't quite 'get' art, do you? The OP is completely spot on, buy it, treasure it, show it off, it looks amazing... And (for the record), I don't like PSB, but if someone bought me this, I'd be over the moon! Stunning!
Nawenadet
I like PSB a lot, but this is pretty terrible out of touch funky house business. So you're right, best off not being played! Or bought for ridiculous amounts of money because you'd look like a twat with no taste trying to buy some.
Pringles
Fantastic album, despite it sounding like Stuart Price feat. PSB (not a bad thing). In fact, it might be Price's euphoric sound that makes this such a sonically immaculate set of tracks. The songwriting seems to be not applicable here, but the objective of the album is crystal clear and, as a fully-fledged dance record, it satisfies. To me, this is Price's sequel to Madonna's 'Confessions on a Dancefloor'.
Gietadia
If you want to hear another Price "sequel" to Confessions, listen to Seal's album System. It also has the same exact sound as Madonna's and PSB's records.
FreandlyMan
A great album, in fact one of their best. It's a dance album much in the vein of Introspective, or even their overlooked Relentless EP that accompanied Very. It's a much needed return to their dance roots after the somber affair that was Elysium. It's not their best effort in terms of songwriting, but as far as modern day dance music goes there's been little to match it in 2013 or since.
Walan
I don't think Relentless gets enough attention. Electric is a very clear throwback to that EP!
Xava
Pity, this release is very dull, outdated. Came out much too quickly, no real ideas. PSB was never a high-tech electro-feel band, so it was a bad idea to make it feel like that now. MUCH below every average melodywise, just as technicalwise.
Modimeena
Pretty interesting artifact. It may be a crappy 160 KBPS mp3, but this colectible has already tenfolded its original price... outstanding for any PSB collector.

I've been a casual yet longtime fan of the boys. I've loved most of their output, typically the electronic style, but have learned that sometimes they drift off into strange acoustic or overly bland genres. I wasn't sure what to expect but at least the title, "Electric", gave me reason to hope for the best. And how pleased I am on hearing these nine new tracks! Here the boys have swung back to firmly electronic music with all the classic trademarks of a great PSB album. Although clearly aimed at the dance floor, there are plenty of catchy hooks, wonderfully modern synth sounds, quirky song titles and, as always, those cleverly intellectual lyrics that Neil delivers with perfect English enunciation. From the opening blast of "Axis" to the final strains of "Vocal" this album is filled with great songs which may have been aimed at the dance floor but still provide plenty of pleasure off it.
Goltigor
shame it's only 192 ! but the vinyl quality requites that
Kitaxe
It's a real shame that such a cool device, which could become a highly collectable item for PSB fans, contains music in crappy 160 kbps mp3 form. Why not WAV or FLAC? Few additional hundred Mbs of memory space as well as slightly improved hardware to play the lossless audio would costed nothing to the manufacturer .....

I am a big Pet Shop Boys. I enjoy their style of mixing synthpop with electronic music. I like how their songs could get me out of a bad mood. They are one of the few 80s groups that successfully transitioned to the new modern sound. Yes gave me one of my favourite songs of all time: pandemonium. Elysium had me smiling all through the album. What do I think of their venture into electronica?I'm a little dissapointed....Don't get me wrong, there are songs on here that are wonderful. Unfortunately there are also some songs that feel generic and uses patterns and sounds that I have heard too many times before.1. Axis- wow, i was not expecting the lead single to also be the intro of the album. It's an amazing song it's what got me hyped for the new album.2. Bolshy- i was immediately taken in by the atmosphere of this track. Great vocals by Neil and the beat is great!3. Love is a Bourgeois Construct- This song started great. Great violins and everything, but then that synth horn came in. That part sounds very familiar. Not the final countdown but something around that same time period. One thing I can give the song: it kept me guessing. Its a good song.4. Florescent- Another good song here though not amazing or inventive i'll admit.5. Inside a Dream- Really good beat on this one not to mention I love the chimes! Neil is great in this track as well.6. The Last To Die- At first, I rather enjoyed this cover. Nice synth lines and great vocals. Then, I started to notice how it sounds nearly identical to their cover of Viva La Vida by Coldplay: same speed, same setup, i found myself singing the lyrics of Viva La Vida over the song. It's okay but I just feel like i've heard this before.7. Shouting in the Evening- this is the only song on the album that annoyed me. This song is a mess. There are many elements used so many times that they become annoying. The synth bass is especially annoying. The vocals are a bit irritating especially how Neil's vocals are raised a few more octaves then they should. It doesn't feel like Pet Shop Boys, more like a remix of one of their songs. 8. Thursday- this song surprised me. This is the kind of stuff i love. Doesn't it sound a lot like "why don't we live together" though? Still this is the kind of stuff i love: orchestral synthpop. Not to mention it seems that Pet Shop Boys have finally discovered this new music craze called 'rap'. Its a great song.9. Vocal- the cheesiest song on the entire album. Unfortunately it just sounds too generic for my taste. The beat, lyrics, rhythm; it's just all elements I've heard before. Not to mention the overused rising beat and break.Overall, this is a pretty good album, i will remember the select songs better than the album itself. I feel like this would have been better off being called "Disco Five" because that's what it sounds like. This album just isnt for me I guess. 3/5

I don't know what percentage of work Stuart Price put in this album but it feels like PSB + SP = perfect match ! During all the years of dissappointment after "Behaviour" I never thought I'd say this about any PSB album: AWESOME. ["I never thought I could tremble as much as this" lyrics come to mind.] No sobby or cheesy ballads, just pure trance. That's the spirit ! Surely this is an album that many oldskool PSB have been waiting for. Experience and style mixed with present/future tricks of electronic music. Instantly added to my wantlist.
Lcena
wait, you didn't like very? i saw this album as quite the kissing sister to Very. but Electric is for sure their best since Very. and psb must have loved the match too; the next album of theirs, Super, is another sp production
