In 1963 jazz trumpeter Bobby Hackett recorded a complete album with 12 Kaempfert compositions, Bobby Hackett Plays the Music of Bert Kaempfert. It has now been re-released in the United States under the Sony Records label in the Collectable Jazz Classics series, along with the album Bobby Hackett Plays The Music of Henry Mancini on a "2-in-1" CD. In 1967 jazz clarinetist Pete Fountain recorded the album Pete Fountain Plays Bert Kaempfert in Hamburg, Germany, with musicians from Kaempfert's orchestra. In 1967 the Anita Kerr Singers released the LP Bert Kaempfert Turns Us On!, a tribute to Kaempfert, featuring the standard hits In 1968 jazz trumpeter Al Hirt recorded the album Al Hirt Plays Bert Kaempfert.

This album was recorded in the Polydor Studio in Hamburg-Rahlstedt by sound engineer Peter Klemt in December 1961 and in March 1962. This production was first released in the United States the following August under the title THAT HAPPY FEELING and had climbed to Number 14 in the charts by September of that year. In the course of the years, Bert Kaempfert received a number of awards and gold LPs as a reward for the huge success of this album all over the world. But he was particularly delighted to receive a gold LP from South Africa.

Wait For Me is an exceptionally pleasant album, which is in no way intended to be sarcastic. It just never strives to be anything more than prettified g stuff, lacking the st-listen hooks (M83) or over the top grandeur (Sigur Rós) of other acts who've explored similar sounds in the last 10 years. And even as ambient, or new age nostalgia, it lacks the textural richness that inspires listeners to repeatedly dive into such seemingly "static" discographies as Wolfgang Voigt's Gas project
