I have every album these guys have released but this is, in my opinion, their best. Nergal adds unique and diverse elements with each successive album and this is the apex of that progression with powerful instrumentation and choral flourishes all over the place. The songs are almost hymn-like in structure at points. I cannot wait to see them live and can only wonder what lies ahead for them. Now they have released I Loved You at Your Darkest. While it most certainly follows the steps of The Satanist, it expands on it quite a bit and is not just The Satanist Part 2. It is the South of Heaven to their Reign in Blood. It is still very heavy but much more melodic in nature overall, containing a few instrumentals and even a children's choir.
