Gordi ended her banner year with a spare, elegiac cover of the aforementioned's "00000 Million" and, with the release of her 2017 full-length debut, Reservoir, she takes her own shot at the international main stage. While Payten's introspective musings sometimes come across as intimate, Reservoir is at its core a sweeping gesture full of big, lush sounds bearing a wide scope.

Despite some epic songs, Reservoir ultimately seeks for help in places it wants to be but can't for some reason, at the end of the album you ask yourself 'how did this really sound?' and often forget that second half altogether. Long Way' is a highlight though.

Reservoir is an extraordinary breakup album. Sydney singer/songwriter Gordi chats with you like a friend during a late-night stroll, dispensing all manner of wisdom and experience. Bitter End billows with hushed beauty, given the startling level of heartbreak contained within. Heaven I Know and Myriad dip into the alt-electronica, with cleansing waves of atmosphere-even Auto-Tune. It’s easy to get swept up in the arrangements, but Gordi is the star here. She absolutely crushes. If you broke her heart, you just got served.
