The Gladiators are a Jamaican roots reggae band, most popular during the 1970s. The core was Albert Griffiths (guitarist and singer), Clinton Fearon (bassist and singer) and Gallimore Sutherland rhythm guitar and singer. The two most famous albums are Trenchtown Mix Up (1976) and Proverbial Reggae (1978) with songs as "Hearsay", "Jah Works", "Dreadlocks the Time is Now". Mix Up", "Music Makers from Jamaica", and "Soul Rebel" – a song written by The Wailers.

In 1976, the Gladiators inked a deal with Virgin Records in Britain, and began work on their label debut with producer Prince Tony Robinson. The end result was the glorious Trenchtown Mix Up album, a set stuffed with hits, phenomenal revisions of earlier Studio One numbers including "Mix Up," a re-cut of "Bongo Red," and a couple of mighty Bob Marley covers thrown in for good measure. The trio followed this masterpiece up with the equally essential Proverbial Reggae in 1978 and completed the triptych of classic albums with Naturality the following year.

Fairly decent pressing but for some reason they pressed the tracks "down town rebel" & "my thoughts" twice, which means you lose the tracks " jah go before us" & " ease squeeze". Great songs here, sadly bass sounds bad on track A5 but it must be the same on all other pressings, maybe Coxsone was too busy counting his money. Whatever, this reissue is a great thing, a solid one, thanks to Yep Roc !
