Highland dance or Highland dancing (Scottish Gaelic: dannsa Gàidhealach) is a style of competitive solo dancing developed in the Scottish Highlands in the 19th and 20th centuries in the context of competitions at public events such as the Highland games. It was created from the Gaelic folk dance repertoire, but formalized with the conventions of ballet', and has been subject to influences from outside the Highlands

Clan Campbell is a Highland Scottish clan. Historically one of the largest and most powerful of the Highland clans, their lands were in Argyll and the chief of the clan became the Earl and later Duke of Argyll. The original seat of the Clan Campbell was either Innis Chonnell Castle on Loch Awe or Caisteal na Nigheann Ruaidh on Loch Avich. The clan's power soon spread throughout Argyll, however at first the Campbells were under the domination of the Lords of Lorne, chiefs of Clan MacDougall. The MacDougalls killed the Campbell chief Cailean Mór (Colin Campbell) in 1296.

Highland dancing, bagpipe playing, tossing the caber, hammer throwing, shot putting, throwing the weight, track events, tug of war: traditional games in Scotland's Highlands and Islands. Highland dancing is the Scottish national dance and is taught in many local schools. The most famous of the dances are the Sword Dance and the Highland Fling. The bagpipe is an ancient instrument that has been played in many parts of the world. It lost popularity when most music started to be played indoors on new, quieter instruments, but it remained in use among Scotland's clans. After the unsuccessful Jacobite rising in 1745 (led by Bonnie Prince Charlie), the English banned the playing of the bagpipe because it was considered to be an instrument of war.

We are a local highland dance school, ideally located in the convenient west end area of Glasgow. We meet Monday & Thursday evenings. Everybody Dance Now. Red Hot Chilli Pipers (Music for the Kilted Generation).
