The Best of Kansas is the first compilation album from the American progressive rock band Kansas. It was originally released in 1984, and featured one new track, "Perfect Lover", written by then-lead vocalist John Elefante and his brother Dino Elefante.

Kansas is the debut studio album by American progressive rock band Kansas, released in 1974 by Kirshner in the United States and Epic Records in other countries. Kansas's debut album followed the merging of two Topeka musical camps: Kerry Livgren, from a previous Kansas line-up, and White Clover, which played mainstream rock and blues. The newly formed group signed with Kirshner Records in 1973 and traveled to New York to record their first release.

If your a 70's and 80's rock fan it is a must for your CD collection. If your new to Kansas or never heard of them, try the samples of each song, they are still a great band after all these years. Of course, no Kansas best of album go without "Carry on Wayward Son" or "Dust in the wind. As usual a couple of the songs have been cut short slightly, but in these cases it isn't a major loss. Just to clarify, "The Best of Kansas" was remasterd in 1999 and three additional songs were included, The Pinnacle "The Pinnacle", "The Devil Game" and "Closet Chronicles.
