Originally released on CD by the band themselves a couple of years ago, the debut album of Winter Deluge sees new distro/label Frozen Blood Industries pick up the release for a tasty vinyl re-issue. Not knowing a huge amount about the New Zealand metal scene (apart from the extremists who have made it onto the world scene such as Diocletian or Ulcerate), this actually blindsided me with its genuine kick to the balls of a black metal musical attack (even if they do get points knocked off for having a fully legible logo – just kidding). Frothing with ice and vitriol in equal measures, the album.

Changes within a band can lead to creative uncertainty or even outright artistic collapse. But that’s clearly not an issue for New Zealand black metal outfit Winter Deluge. Last time we heard from the group was back in 2012, when they released their hate-fuelled full-length debut, As the Earth Fades into Obscurity. Since then, Winter Deluge have cycled through a few bassists, and lost and gained both a guitarist and a vocalist.
Winter Deluge – As the Earth Fades into Obscurity. 27th August, 2012 – 21:51. New Zealand Black Metal. Debut full length ) Recorded in January 2011. Released on the 21st of January 2012. INQUISITION took US Black Metal to a new precedent with their 1998 Opus Into the Infernal Legions of the Ancient Cult. Ever since they have been at the forefront of Black Metal worldwide and their 5th critically acclaimed full length Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm has further cemented their legacy as one of the most uncompromising and eminent acts of the genres history. After extensive world touring, June 6th will mark their very first appearance on NZ soil. INQUISITION’S signature sound is best described as an amalgamation of ritualistic, contemplative and majestic.
