Jamal owned the Alhambra Club in 1961 and of course, his own trio with bassist Israel Crosby and drummer Vernell Fournier was the house band. This is the group that so dazzled Miles Davis with its use of space and lyricism. The original Live at Alhambra Club date featured six performances, and there was a follow-up LP. Disc one of this beautifully recorded and mastered collection contains 13 tracks. Disc two contains the legendary Live at the Blackhawk performances (also from 1961) in full as well,-again, for the very first time on CD. There are 14 performances on disc two.
