The Soul Album is the fourth studio album by American soul singer-songwriter Otis Redding, released in 1966. Otis Redding - vocals. Booker T. Jones, Isaac Hayes - keyboards, piano. Steve Cropper - guitar. Donald Dunn - bass guitar. Al Jackson Jr. - drums. Wayne Jackson, Sammy Coleman, Gene "Bowlegs" Miller - trumpet. Charles "Packy" Axton, Andrew Love - tenor saxophone. Floyd Newman - baritone saxophone.

It's hard to agree with a title like The Best Soul Album in the World. Ever - too much hyperbole for most tastes - but it's hard to disagree with the music. The compilers have decided to focus on smooth and funky '70s soul instead of the gritty, deep soul of the '60s . Ever is a guaranteed good time - even if it may not live up to the promise of its title.

Never Too Much is the debut solo studio album by American singer-songwriter Luther Vandross, released on August 12, 1981. It peaked at number 19 on the Billboard 200 (then known as Pop Albums), peaked at number one on the R&B Albums chart, and went double platinum by the RIAA. The album earned Vandross two Grammy Award nominations in 1982-"Best New Artist" and "Best R&B Vocal Performance, Male".

Looking through the results it's striking just how many soul greats died tragically young under horrible circumstances. Marvin Gaye was shot to death by his own father, while Otis Redding died in a plane crash and Sam Cooke was shot by a hotel manager. Only four people on our list are still alive, while many others have been dead for decades. Luther Vandross got his big break in 1974 when David Bowie recruited him to sing back-up vocals on Young Americans. His solo career didn't take off until the early Eighties when he scored big hits with "Never Too Much," "Since I Lost My Baby" and "Give Me The Reason. His career hit a new peak in 1989 with the Billboard Top 10 hit "Here And Now," and until his death in 2005 he toured and recorded as a beloved elder statesman of soul. Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers of All Time: Luther Vandross.

Criteria: Soul music started in the early 1960s and was around into the 1970s and later, although by the mid-1970s it had pretty much been replaced by funk and disco. Albums that are mainly funk or disco, rather than soul, were not considered for this list. These albums were chosen and ranked based on their initial and lasting popularity, influence, impact, and overall stature in soul music circles.

Album Luther Vandross. I thought sometime alone Was what we really needed You said this time would hurt more than it helps But I couldn't see that I thought it was the end Of a beautiful story And so I left the one I loved at home to be alone (alone) And I tried to find Out if this one thing is true That. I'm nothing without you I know better now And I've had a change of heart.

John Luther is a police detective, and a very good one. He deals with murder cases, often involving serial killers, and has a knack for getting inside the mind of the killer. However, his methods, personality and troubled private life often get him into strife with his superiors, leading some to regard him as the problem rather than the solution. However, occasionally along comes a series that sits so far above the grey landscape of indifference that it blinds by the light of it's creativity, one such show is the British drama 'Luther'. The show's direction takes the viewer helter skelter into the very heart and soul of John Luther, a dedicated senior police officer in a constant struggle to retain his moral compass because he dares to use questionable methods to ensure justice for victims of the most brutal crimes within a labyrinthine bureaucracy of a legal system whose very existence seems intent in.

It’s got a ridiculously powerful bassline for a soul track!’ Chosen by hip hop maverick DJ Yoda. 41. ‘Prototype’ – Outkast. This serene slice of soulful psychedelia pays homage to late ’50s doo-wop classics, Andre 3000’s chiffon-soft vocals are heavenly and laid delicately over a squelchy funk beat and twanging, overwrought guitar. The best soul songs: 40-31. It was originally intended for The Supremes but the brothers scored with this slice of pure Motown magic. 26. ‘Tainted Love’ – Gloria Jones. Stick on the album version for nine minutes of total, beautiful soul immersion. 9. ‘Living for the City’ – Stevie Wonder. No one delivers sermons through soul like Stevie. Here he focuses explicitly on the difficulties of growing up poor and black, playing every single freakin’ instrument.
