Friedrich "Fritz" Kreisler (February 2, 1875 – January 29, 1962) was an Austrian-born violinist and composer. One of the most noted violin masters of his day, and regarded as one of the greatest violinists of all time, he was known for his sweet tone and expressive phrasing.

When Fritz Kreisler made his first London recordings towards the end of 1911, he was already wildly popular in Britain. Title: Complete Recordings Vo. TITLE: Julian Olevsky - Puttin’ On The Fritz: An Album of Fritz Kreisler Encores. Wolfgang Rose, piano. COMPOSER: Fritz Kreisler.

Fritz Kreisler is probably a name not known to many, but according to Bell, 'I consider Fritz Kreisler to have been the last in a long line of great violinst-composers, which stretches back as far as Tartini and Corelli. Joshua Bell continues to record and perform with power and style, but perhaps this album remains one the best of his performances. Recorded at the urging of Josef Gingold, his teacher and mentor (who did not live to see the production completed), it has a poignancy about it, as well as good-heartedness that comes through very clearly.
