Not Rebecca ushered a cozy Husker Du cum paleo-emo vibe onto the indie scene in the mid-90s, and unleashed a wellspring of masterful songs, a couple of which are represented here on their sole 45 release, some twelve years ago, courtesy of Thick Records. And "thick" this little slab of wax is, even for a picture disk. Enjoy (or not)" - wilfullyobscure. NOT REBECCA - 'Three Feet Thick' RECORDED BY: Chuck Uchida CATALOG NUMBER: THK-013 : 7" picture disc ARTWORK BY: Tom Counihan RELEASE DATE: 1995.

Hailing from the western suburbs of Chicago, Not Rebecca were part of the seminal Chicago pop punk scene of the early 90's. Getting their start playing shows with bands like Naked Raygun, Blue Meanies, Oblivion, the Bollweevils, and the Smoking Popes. Venues such the Fireside Bowl, Cabaret Metro, Off the Alley and MacGregor's were the most likely places to catch them. Not Rebecca have releases on indie labels such as Underdog, Thick, and Johann's Face.

Way back when I started my Singles Going Single series, a brilliant indie-punk band outta Chicago band called Not Rebecca was my very first entry. I still haven't forgotten them (obviously) and strongly recommend their Twin City Obituary and Rocketship to Canada albums, both on Johann's Face Records. Tom Daily (actually Tom Tounihan) was half of the Not Rebecca songwriting nuclei, and after the band splintered, Tragedy of Fanbelts was his first solo release. Though it lacked the punch of the aforementioned NR albums, it retained the grit.

1 Nothing Is Forever 1:57. Category Country Year. JFR 018. Not. Rebecca. LP, Johanns Face Records.

Dedication is an album by the Bay City Rollers, issued in September 1976. It was the band's fourth original studio album, and the first new album to be released in the wake of their enormous worldwide success of early 1976. Founding group member Alan Longmuir had been replaced by Ian Mitchell prior to the recording sessions. Upon the switch, Mitchell was slotted as rhythm guitarist; Stuart Wood moved from rhythm guitar to bass. Mitchell also provided the lead vocal for the title track.
