Speaking of the Intruders, "Girl You're Too Young," a Gamble, Archie Bell, and Thom Bell song, has the "Cowboys to Girls" guys written all over it; "Here I Go Again," another R&B hit, is more formulaic.

There's Gonna Be a Showdown. As a teenager in the mid to late 60's, I was a big fan of Archie Bell & The Drells and the Intruders. One of the things that I liked about their music was the way it was arranged. They were so different from what I was used to hearing on the radio. Here I go again," is the next song (album was later re-titled as "Here I Go Again, for some reason), it too is a danceable beat that is sure to please, and is notable for the guitar parts that pop throughout the song.

The plot thickens! The Image shown is that of a later re-pressing of the 1976 K 10844 1st UK Stereo 45 coupling retro release I guesstimate about 1978-1979 this pressing carries a different A and B matrix why?*The 1976 original CBS pressing very oddly and totally confusing carries the same matrix (father plates) reference for BOTH sides in text MS 1451X yet the stampers say K 10844 A1 and B1 and are also noted in text accordingly???*Having not seen a copy of this to compare with MS 1451X from 1976, could this indeed be a superior, wide groove, louder and re-eq'd bass pressing? any one have a copy of this later re-press? Having checked all the listed stereo variants of both tracks this UK MS1451X seems to be unique (note it would not be a promotional pressing as this would have been assigned a SAM prefix and number SAM for "sampler" and exclusive to all Kinney-WEA- Warner Communications promotional cassette audio tapes, video tapes, 7" and 12" singles accordingly. Asylum Atlantic (Inc Atco, , Big Beat, Cotillion East West, Rolling Stones) Bearsville, Beggars Banquet, Blanco Y Negro, East-West, Elektra, Geffin, Giant, Interscope, Laser, Lightening, Maverick, Scope, Sire, Warner Bros., WEA, etc.

An even bigger issue and foolish production is this UK CBS pressing, the cutting and laythe engineer at CBS (probably at CBS's Whitfield (Street) studios) has cut a very tight and narrow groove much like a 1953 EMI 1956 Decca the result is that the sonics are low and soft! The tracks have no Philly oomph no bass, and usless for Club or at volume play without introducing rumble and groove noise great great GREAT pity! Lack, of thought and planning over this must have DJ classic and gem. and Maybe those guys at Warners/Rhino will get these tracks re-cut and mastered add "Tighten Up" and put out a well cut deep bass 12" Stereo 33.3 3 track EP of this with either the USA Black Top Red Atlantic labels or the UK Blue Top Atlantic labels. Will be a massive seller and late summer floor filler! Not much to ask for such a must have gem:A. Here I Go AgainB1. ShowdownB2. Tighten Up (full version)Maybe get Tom Moulton on the case and extend and mix all three as only he can do!!

Finally the foolish, needless and pointless mono errors of ALL the past releases of both tracks have finally been put right by WEA UK in this first coupling and re-press of the two must have gems in their proper wide and deep Stereo mixes.......Better late than never/not at all, (Kinney Corp. let us down and only sent the original 1968 single masters (shipped by Polydor to Kinney/Warner Bros) to CBS. No-one checked the paperwork for album mixes in stereo legs needed to be slapped or such slackness!)
