Recorded live in 1976 and 1977 by producer Norman Dayron at the Old Waldorf nightclub on Bloomfield's home turf in San Francisco with a hand-picked band, the results are startling to say the least. Bloomfield plays with assurance and authority throughout, exploring new ideas with each new chorus from his guitar, arguably at his best since his early Butterfield/Dylan days

The Three O'Clock originally formed under the name The Salvation Army in 1981. The original lineup was Quercio (lead vocals, bass), John Blazing (guitar), and Troy Howell (drums). They released a single ("Mind Gardens" b/w "Happen Happened") on The Minutemen's New Alliance label in November, 1981  . Live at the Old Waldorf (2013) (Burger Records). The Hidden World Revealed (compilation) (2013) (Omnivore Recordings).

Talk about The Three O'Clock - Live At The Old Waldorf

I finally cracked the shrink wrap on my copy only to see a horrific smear of many scratches on side 1. And this was purchased directly from the label. Not cool. Also non-plussed by the bootleg sound quality of the master tape used here, though the packaging surely offered clues. The audience sounds like it has a far wider stereo field in recording than that of the band. The live performance is deliciously loose and vibrant, with many songs getting an amphetamine surge that doesn't hurt any. Closer to the rock end of the spectrum than their studio recordings, which hewed closer to pop. This was a good purchase though, for a fan like myself, who always wished that there were more Three O'Clock on my racks. They only had five releases as The ThreeO'Clock and I had all of them. Well, I got my wish.

There appears to be an assumption that copies #1-500 are colored vinyl and copies #501-1000 are black, and that copies of this album bought through Burger Records are all black copies and that all bought through RSD'13 are colored. Some copies have been put up for sale on here and eBay as colored or black vinyl and still sealed.Unable to pay the high 2nd hand asking prices for a colored copy, I eventually decided to buy the black vinyl from Burger direct for $10 in one of their one-day sales. It arrived yesterday, is #935 and you know what? It's on green vinyl.I've had this happen to me three times now from the Burger guys, it happened with Natural Child and Pangea too - I ordered what I thought were black copies and I got colored, with no indication on the sleeve whatsoever. I'm obviously not complaining, but if you keep your Burger records sealed and assume them to be a particular color then you COULD be wrong. I just thought this might be worth pointing out to buyers and sellers alike.Tony

Yeah, Burger's great that way. (Even though I got black!)
