Wayne would rejoin Metal Church to create a live album and a full-length album, Masterpeace, which was all but a masterpiece. In fact Metal Church hit an all time low with this album. Wayne left the band again and even went out of his other solo band, Reverend, to make this album. Even the cover of the album pokes at Metal Church, with the headstone cross guitar lying in the cemetery. With such a controversy thus created, how did the music fair? Lets just say this album should have been Masterpeace.

David Wayne (January 1, 1958 – May 10, 2005) was an American singer of the heavy metal bands Metal Church, Reverend and Wayne. From 1982 to 1988, Wayne appeared as vocalist on three studio albums and one live album by Metal Church. He was influenced by singers like Rob Halford and has influenced singers like James Hetfield. When he left Metal Church 1988, Wayne formed Reverend, which remained active even after his death.

Metal Church is an American heavy metal band. They originally formed in San Francisco, California in 1980 before relocating to Aberdeen, Washington the following year and briefly using the name Shrapnel. Their self titled debut album was released in 1984, and their latest, Damned If You Do, was released on December 7, 2018.
