Laying down the groundwork for what would become one of the most visceral bands of all time, Nervous Breakdown was the first release from Los Angeles' Black Flag. While it is certainly more "punk" than their later work (singer Keith Morris sounds like a graduate from the Johnny Rotten school of diction, and Greg Ginn's guitar work is less modal), all the songs have the basic elements of what made Black Flag special: rage, anger, intensity, cynicism.

With Rollins, Black Flag began work on their first full-length album. The sessions for the album (chronicled in Michael Azerrad's book Our Band Could Be Your Life) were a source of conflict between the band and engineer/producer Spot, who had worked with the band and the SST label since their early years. Violence against the band (and especially Rollins) was ever-present, although the vocalist was now an avid weight lifter, and more than able to defend himself.

Black Flag-Nervous Breakdown 1 guitar tab, guitar tabs, bass tabs, chords and guitar pro tabs. Nervous Breakdown" by BLACK FLAG. words and music by Greg Ginn. as heard on BLACK FLAG's SST recordings "Nervous Breakdown" and "The First Four Years".

Talk about Black Flag - Nervous Breakdown

Dorizius
I'm looking to replace this EP I sold a while back. Does anyone have a VG+/VG+ copy for $750?
Lcena
The drummer on this recording is Bryan Migdol not Robo.
SkroN
No they're not. Robo is Roberto Valverde. Bryan is a white dude.
Thomand
Bryan Migdo is Robo. That's his nickname. They are the same person.
Wire
I have what seems to be version 11 of this record. However, side 1 that has the Nervous Breakdown track is mislabeled and has a duplicate side 2 label (Fix Me, I've Had It, Wasted). The matrix runout for side 1 and 2 match with what is listed for the version 11 release. Anyone know anything about this?
Light out of Fildon
My copy of version 11 has the labels on the wrong sides.
Tetaian
I've never heard of that... It is definitely an anomaly... A rare mistake that happened at the pressing plant. You may want to hold on to that one...
Bloodhammer
whoever got this for $28 is one lucky duck.
Fearlesshunter
No way, are you kidding? I love this EP, but I'm just getting a reissue because i'm not TOO serious about collecting yet.
Pipet
Hey idiots, stop trying to inflate the market asking 5 grand for this fucking record.
skyjettttt
I have the first seven pressings and have posted info and photos with all of the subtle differences between each version. The url is: http://blackflagnervousbreakdown.blogspot.com/2014/05/black-flag-nervous-breakdown-early.htmlHanson

greg ginn quote from `outcry` fanzine no.1(1980) regarding how many were first made..``2000 pressed``
Togor
The runout on Nervous Breakdown has phrase IT'S GROOVY (w/staggered vertical lines representing bf) The runout on b-side states I WAS A BURNOUT (same end)What releases was this on? Was this common to all.
Amerikan_Volga

For the record there are 2000 first press copies (numbers stated by the band in their interview in slash magazine circa 79 - 80) also if you think about it this record shows up almost weekly on eBay and much more frequently than antidote, abused , deep wound, first press NA etc. If there were 500 considering the popularity of black flag this record would currently be in the 1200 - 1500$ range ala zero boys 7".
