A soundtrack double album of the film, which was premiered in the . on 25th October 1988. The premiere took place at the Canon Cinema, Haymarket, London with Yoko, Sean and Cynthia all in attendance. The film went on general release three days later. Being the story of John Lennon, the soundtrack of the film contains songs recorded by The Beatles, and therefore what we get here is a fine collection of songs from all of John's career.
It's virtually impossible to sum up John Lennon's entire career in 21 tracks, but this Yoko-approved soundtrack to Andrew Solt's 1988 documentary makes a fairly impressive try. Evenly split between his Beatles and solo periods, this collection paints a complex picture of a man whose music was by turns reflective ("In My Life," "Strawberry Fields Forever"), political ("Revolution, "Give Peace a Chance"), and harrowingly emotional ("Mother," "Jealous Guy"), but who also occasionally enjoyed a good old rock & roll.
