Listen free to Various Artists – Different Shades of Blue. Discover more music, concerts, videos, and pictures with the largest catalogue online at Last. Hmm, it looks like we don’t know much about this album. Do you know what kind of music this is? Tag this album.

Various artists compilations are compilation albums that feature tracks by more than one artist. To get the most out of compilations, making them more navigable in your music library, you need to treat them differently to other albums. Unlike albums, various artist compilations do not make up one contiguous body of work by an artist. For instance, say you are interesting in playing an entire album by one particular artist. You don't want to be shown individual tracks from compilations the artist may be featured on. Conversely, sometimes listening to a compilation is a good idea, and some compilations are works of art in their own right. The best place to start is to be explicit. If a collection of tracks is a compilation, it's only fair to tell your music player. This gives a 'hint' to your music player to make sure to group the tracks together. The compilation tag is named as follows, and should be set for every track

An album may be recorded in a recording studio (fixed or mobile), in a concert venue, at home, in the field, or a mix of places. Studios are built to absorb sound, eliminating reverberation, so as to assist in mixing different takes; other locations, such as concert venues and some "live rooms", have reverberation, which creates a "live" sound. An album may contain as many or as few tracks as required. In the United States, The Recording Academy's rules for Grammy Awards state that an album must comprise a minimum total playing time of 15 minutes with at least five distinct tracks or a minimum total playing time of 30 minutes with no minimum track requirement. In the United Kingdom, the criteria for the UK Albums Chart is that a recording counts.

I'm wondering how albums from various artists should be tagged, for example film soundtracks with songs from different artists.

I've had this problem with compilation albums by different artists. For example, artist Madonna, album artist Various. It's also important to make sure that every detail is the same, such as album name, genre, year etc. Every character, including all punctuation, must be right, including spaces. For example Gerry And The Pacemakers will be read differently than Gerry & The Pacemakers, because of the & in the name.

Different Stages is a live album by Canadian rock band Rush, released in 1998. The bulk of the first and second discs were recorded at the World Music Theatre in Tinley Park, Illinois during the 1997 Test for Echo tour. Five other songs from various stops along the tour were included and three songs from the 1994 Counterparts tour. The third disc is taken from a performance at the Hammersmith Odeon in London during the A Farewell to Kings tour in 1978.

Those tracks are the most noteworthy ones here by a considerable margin. Despite its title, BTS WORLD isn’t really a BTS album: It’s the soundtrack to a freemium mobile app game of the same name. Less than a third of the record’s 50-minute runtime is devoted to the boy band, and one would be hard-pressed to consider these four tracks among their best. Three collaborations only contain a few BTS members each, mixing and matching the group’s singers and rappers with suitable Western counterparts.
