Carlo Lorenzini, better known by the pen name Carlo Collodi (Italian pronunciation: ; 24 November 1826 – 26 October 1890), was an Italian author, humorist, and journalist, widely known for his fairy tale novel The Adventures of Pinocchio. Collodi was born in Florence on 24 November 1826.

Collodi is a village in Tuscany made worldwide famous by the author of The Adventures of Pinocchio, the best-known and most printed non-religious book of all times. The author’s name was Carlo Lorenzini, but he chose Collodi as his pen name.
