Pride and Glory is Zakk Wylde's first self-fronted album. Upon its release, their one and only album was seen as an almost complete departure from the music Zakk was known for with Ozzy, but the album's dominant Southern rock sound proved to remain a prevalent influence on Zakk's own music up to and including the debut Black Label Society album Sonic Brew

Wylde's guitar still has that Sabbath crunch, but what makes Pride & Glory so listenable is the way it is melded to the deeply Southern rock & roll of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Wylde manages to turn in a handful of well-written songs, but even when the songwriting isn't so hot, the playing is. And that's the point of this kind of rock, anyway

Pride & Glory was a side project for former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde. This was Zakk's first self-fronted project, after which he released the largely acoustic solo-album Book of Shadows in 1996. After that he formed Black Label Society in 1998, which remains his current band.
