Streets is a compilation album of early British and French punk rock bands from a variety of independent record labels. It was an attempt at an end of year ‘round up’ and, significantly, was the first album released on Beggars Banquet Records (catalogue number BEGA1)
Punk rock has a tendency to lie about its ag. As a collection of albums, however, they all represent punk in its various eras, evolutionary stages, styles, approaches and attitudes. Ramones first album should be first. Most of punk was made off that album. Ramones are the founding fathers of punk.
Punk rock started in 1976 on New York’s Bowery, when four cretins from Queens came up with a mutant strain of blitzkrieg bubblegum. The revolution they inspired split the history of rock & roll in half. But even if punk rock began as a kind of negation - a call to stark, brutal simplicity - its musical variety and transforming emotional power was immediate and remains staggering. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Ramones’ toweringly influential self-titled debut, we’ve compiled a list of the 40 Greatest Punk Albums of All Time. If Ramones was Year Zero for punk rock, it didn’t come.
Human is the lone Daft Punk album to feel reactionary to the band’s own success, and even if it did produce a successful inverse to Discovery, it was as impersonal as the group has ever been. 5. Tron: Legacy (2010). A Disney soundtrack is surely the square peg in this ranking, but Tron: Legacy is no slouching, sappy film score. The pair has toured only twice in 20 years, but thankfully we have Alive 2007 to blast, an incendiary concert album that exists as one of the premier live LPs of this century. Alive captures Daft’s most recent roadshow - specifically a June 14, 2007 rager in Paris - and though the audible roaring crowd is cool, the album’s real appeal lies in its mashups, which merge the band’s first three records into a re-electrified mixtape.

They revolutionized punk in one go. This was the first punk album I bought back in 85’ and I loved it. I just found a used copy at my local record store and had to have it. A great album that takes me way way back. This should be This is a better overall album than everything else, but I agree that Ramones is a better punk album. And how is the green day album that I have just accepted will always be here not even there best album? You people don't even know how to mess up right. One of the greatest albums of all time. The best punk album by far ever made! And I'm not the only one saying it! Rolling Stone magazine placed it at in it's 500 greatest albums of all time list! I know rolling stone is very often wrong but even so this album is pure punk brilliance! I seriously can't.
When you think of music from the past 16 years, punk isn’t typically a word used to describe the mainstream musical landscape. Indeed, as far as a great number of music lovers are concerned, music ceased to exist at exactly midnight on New Year’s Eve 1999, and punk is no exception. The ‘90s saw the success of the post-hardcore and emo genres, but ever since the turn of the millennium, punk has not been nearly as huge in the public consciousness, with many considering Green Day’s 2004 album American Idiot to be mainstream punk’s death rattle.
Punk wasn't all about the fashion. The joke on Choking Victim's only album art is that the incredibly pagan and occult imagery has about as much to do with managers as does potato salad. That humor translated perfectly to the band's late-'90s blend of ska and hardcore, at once both blisteringly dark and self-aware. No Gods, No Managers. When your band goofs off with a name like Weekend Nachos, maybe to brace the listener against this powerviolence crossover band, you may as well get virulent with your visuals. The cover of their album Unforgiveable did just that, reminding us of the fragility of youth and human life in an extremely graphic way. Unforgivable.
