Daníel Bjarnason (born 26 February 1979) is a composer and conductor from Iceland. Bjarnason studied composition, piano and conducting in Reykjavik, before going on to further study orchestral conducting at the University of Music, Freiburg. He has had a number of works commissioned and debuted by Los Angeles Philharmonic.

A musical statement not to be missed. Processions is an entirely different beast, forming the bulk of the album and perhaps the album’s most powerful moments. The first movement, aptly titled In Medias Res, or into the middle things, begins abruptly with a huge bow strike and a glissando on the piano. Immediately, the main piano theme is introduced with dissonant trumpet and horn chords hitting the downbeats for a grandiose effect.

Listen free to Daníel Bjarnason – Processions ("Sorrow conquers happiness", Blood to Bones and more). Blurring the line between electronic and chamber music-a familiar style for the Icelandic Bedroom Community collective-the constructions of this recording’s emotional triggers are wholly unique. In Daníel Bjarnason's Processions, the composer marshals all the technical forces at his disposal to accomplish a musical goal rather than an ideological statement.

Daníel Bjarnason is a composer and conductor from Iceland. He has garnered widespread acclaim for his debut album, Processions, with Time Out NY declaring that Bjarnason "create a sound that comes eerily close to defining classical musics undefinable brave new world.
