Goo Goo Dolls is an American rock band formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York, by guitarist/vocalist Johnny Rzeznik, bassist/vocalist Robby Takac, and drummer George Tutuska. Mike Malinin was the band's drummer from December 1994 until December 27, 2013 (but not made an official member until 1998). The band are renowned for their commercially successful 1998 singles "Iris" and "Slide".

For The Goo Goo Dolls, this ballad was not typical of their sound. Considered an "Alternative" group, this crossed over to Pop and Adult Contemporary radio, greatly increasing their fan base, but alienating some core listeners who were used to their harder sound. The album title is a play on the Johnny Cash song "A Boy Named Su. The cover shows a young boy smeared with blackberries, which caused a problem when Wal-Mart refused to stock the album because they thought it depicted a child abuse victim

The Goo Goo Dolls formed in 1985 in Buffalo, New York.
