Next Year" is a song released as the last single from the third Foo Fighters' album There Is Nothing Left to Lose. A shorter version (running at just 3:21 compared to the original's 4:28) was released as a single in 2000 and was used in the music video. Backup vocals were added, and it does not include the outro present in the original album version. The opening of "Next Year" was used as the theme song for the NBC television series Ed (2000–2004).

Early copies came with a Foo Fighters temporary tattoo.

There Is Nothing Left to Lose won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2001, marking the band’s first ever Grammy Award. The band would go on to win the Grammy for Best Rock Album for three of their next four studio releases (One by One, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, and Wasting Light). Foo Fighters is an American rock band, formed in Seattle, Washington in 1994.
