Karl-Birger Blomdahl (born October 19, 1916, Växjö, Sweden - died June 14, 1968, Kungsängen, Sweden) was a Swedish composer and conductor. He first wanted to study biochemistry and therefore came to Stockholm. Soon his interest in music became predominant. In 1935 he started taking lessons in musical theory and composition from Hilding Rosenberg.
Hilding Constantin Rosenberg (June 21, 1892 – May 18, 1985) was the first Swedish modernist composer, and one of the most influential figures in Swedish 20th-century classical music. He taught composition privately to amongst others Karl-Birger Blomdahl, Ingvar Lidholm, and Daniel Börtz His violin concerto features as part of the sound track of the 1936 film Intermezzo. Symphonic Suite from Resa till Amerika (Voyage to America) (1934). Overtura Piccola from Hus med dubbel ingång (1934, arr. for military band).

Karl-Birger Blomdahl (October 19, 1916 – June 14, 1968) was a Swedish composer and conductor born in Växjö. He was educated in biochemistry, but was primarily active in music and by his experimental compositions he became one of the big names in Swedish modernism. His teachers included Hilding Rosenberg (). He died in Kungsängen, Stockholm. His third symphony, Facettes - a work in one subdivided movement (described here as a twelve-tone variation-form piece) - from 1950 is a major contribution to the repertoire.
Antal Dorati debuted with his future Stockholm orchestra in 1953 – with works including Berwald’s Sinfonie Sérieuse and Lars-Erik Larsson’s Violin Concerto on the programme – but he was not appointed chief conductor until about ten years later, after a number of new guest performances. In addition to the great classical repertoire and early twentieth century classics, for example by Bartók, Dorati presented a remarkable amount of Swedish music, especially contemporary music represented primarily by Karl-Birger Blomdahl.
