The discography of British rapper Wretch 32 consists of four studio albums, six mixtapes, fourteen singles (including five as a featured artist) and nineteen music videos. Having released his debut studio ve-in October 2008 to limited commercial success, Wretch 32 succeeded the release with a second album; Black and White. The lead single, "Traktor", was released in January 2011; and saw the artist make his first appearance on the UK chart when it debuted at number five

Wretch 32 may want to trade foremost on his lyricism, but hip-hop isn't just poetry: it's performance, too, and about the dance of the music as much as words. When these align, his is a voice that sounds vital. we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading and supporting our independent, investigative reporting than ever before

Black and White certainly offers the most detailed depiction of inner-city deprivation and temptation yet attempted by an English rapper. In the title-track, Wretch contrasts "the dark side of my life, where my heart weren't alive" with "the light side of my life, where my dreams came to life", a dichotomy explored further elsewhere. In "Let Yourself Go", he recalls the admiration he felt as a child for a local street player, a king since dethroned and doomed to re-live his former glories with cellmates, while his one-time queen struggles to survive

His second album, Black and White (2011), went gold in the UK and even prompted his label to re-release Wretchrospective in 2012. In 2013, Wretch broke the silence after a lengthy hiatus from solo content. He released Blackout and Doing OK, billed as the first two singles from his third album. A further two album tracks, Blur and 24 Hours, featured on the FIFA 13 and 14 soundtracks respectively. Wretch’s third album, Growing Over Life, was released on 2 September 2016 after four years of recording. Antwi, Liberation, All a Dream, . U and Open Conversation & Mark Duggan were all released throughout the year in the run-up to the album. In 2017, Wretch released his fourth studio album, FR32 (pronounced free-two). It was preceded by the singles Whistle, Tell Me and His & Hers (Perspectives).

Tottenham MC Wretch 32 didn’t endear himself to the indie classicists with ‘Unorthodox’, his second single, which sampled the holy cow that is The Stone Roses’ ‘Fools Gold’. It was a cheeky move, sure, but the result was a whip-smart pop single with a nagging chorus and a healthy degree of swagger. Sadly, such pop bluster is largely missing from this debut album, which is over-long and obsessed with pained R&B choruses – precisely the reasons we all went off American rap in the first place. It’s a shame because Wretch is clearly a talented MC who should have had more confidence in his own.

Yet something's changed on The Black And White Album. Nor have they ditched their matching black and white kits - in fact they've just been upgraded to include nifty-looking blazers that are straight out of a Just William novel. No, The Hives' most dramatic change has come with their tunes and the fact that they now sound like a band made up of three dimensions.

Talk about Wretch 32 - Black And White

I thought the turn of Dizzee Rascal from quality grime to pop garbage was shocking, but that was before I heard this album. Comparing his previous album 'Wretchrospective' and this one makes one wonder about a day when this artist was approached by a mysterious man in a suit with a briefcase full of money. I hope there was at least a little moment of hesitation before Wretch 32 decided that he will switch from grime to producing shitty pop music. Forget all the various grey tones, it's black and white all day, baby!
