Big released their eighth studio album. The Stories We Could Tell on September 30, 2014, via Frontiers Records. It was produced by Pat Regan, who returned as producer for the first time since 1999's Get Over It. Due to Pat Torpey being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, he could not play drums on the record, but worked with a drum programmer. The band confirmed that Pat's fill-in for the upcoming world tour would be Burning Rain drummer Matt Starr, who had also previously performed with Ace Frehley and Joe Lynn Turner. The one oddity about The Stories We Tell Ourselves comes toward the second half. The instrumental interlude of "Accept, Disconnect" leads into heaviness for sure in the fist-pumping "Go to War," but the following songs are where the true growth of Nothing More comes to the forefront. Just Say When" is one of the most beautiful paeans to a broken relationship not just by Nothing More, but ever. And for anyone who has ever had absentee father issues, "Fade In, Fade Out" will absolutely break your heart.
