Charlie Parker Memorial, Vol. 1 is an LP record by Charlie Parker, released posthumously by Savoy Records. Several tracks on this album had been previously released on other formats (78 rpm records, 7 inch EPs and 10 inch LPs), but is the first 12-inch release of these master takes. It contains selections from four sessions recorded in 1947 and 1948, and contains several previously unreleased alternate takes from these sessions.

I have the record with the same serial number as on this page and it was "Made in England" so the country should be changed to UK unless it can be proved there was a US release with the same serial number.

These reissues duplicate the tune selection and sequencing of the original Savoy posthumous collections of Parker's work (the original album cover/liner notes are reproduced as well). Several "short takes," essentially false starts, are included, as well as session notes and take listings.

Kamau is an album by trumpeter Charles Sullivan (who had changed his name to Kamau Adilifu) which was recorded in 1995 and released on the Arabesque label. Limelight Records was a jazz record label and subsidiary of Mercury Records started in 1962. The catalogue included music by Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie, Earl Hines, Milt Jackson, Gerry Mulligan, and Oscar Peterson. Originally headed by Quincy Jones, its activities were directed by the producer Jack Tracy. Though mainly a jazz label, it also released rock, experimental, electronic, and Indian music. Charlie Parker has one'a the mos' amazing legacies in jazz history. An' the music that is on this album is just wonderful, a great example of early bebop and the 1940s decade of jazz. These were from his years at Savoy (an' I swear I think some'a them are from the Dial Years too), put together in a collection of new and previously unreleased takes of his most famous compositions, all recorded between 1944 and 1948. This music here is kind of rough as it contains incomplete versions as well as the final completed studio takes of the numbers here, but it is still a nice, if a little raw, representation of the bebop era at its best. The basslines, piano, percussion all keep the pace lively and Parker's alto sax jumps out of the blue-lit night streets right into your home. It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to listen to this album without tapping your fingers or your foot, or just bobbing your head. It's just too wildly addictive.
