Melodic techno from Octogen on his debut album for Soma, 2FIVEONINE. Ligrgirl" takes a Detroitian approach, with shiny layers and some deep hits that wander into some indistinct vocal samples that pepper the track, while "Cside" delves into more romantic tones. Les Misereye" is purposefully choppy, and something about its stuttering rhythm, and "Monocyte" gets more into the electro groove.

2fiveonine, his debut release under the Octogen guise, was named album of the month in 3 of the UK’s dance music publications and was awarded album of the year by DJ Magazine. His ever-growing list of fans include legendary names such as Laurent Garnier, DJ3000 and Claude Young. As he prepares to release his incredible second Octogen album, titled Gindofask, Marco has been putting together an outstanding live set that has been going down a storm at recent gigs, cementing him as a unique Glasgow talent.

Marco Bernardi has been making quality electronic dance music for over a decade for labels such as Glasgow’s Soma and Rotterdam’s Clone. Since the success of his debut Octogen album, 2fiveonine, which picked up Album of the Month in three UK dance music publications (IDJ, M8, DJ Mag) and Album of the Year in DJ Mag 2007, Marco can name Laurent Garnier, DJ3000 and Claude Young amongst his fans.

Not content to stand still, this album sees Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle pick up the techno baton, twisting the genre even further still, to create a forward-thinking new sound all of their own. These are artists at their creative peak. In this technological age Slam utilise the human touch to inject a myriad of emotions into their electronic machine music. The end result is much more than a collection of tracks. Human Response' flows and grows and, in an era of single track downloads, Slam provide an album that can be listened to from start to finish. Talk about Octogen - 2fiveonine

Fog
Melodic techno from Octogen on his debut album for Soma, 2FIVEONINE. "Ligrgirl" takes a Detroitian approach, with shiny layers and some deep hits that wander into some indistinct vocal samples that pepper the track, while "Cside" delves into more romantic tones. "Les Misereye" is purposefully choppy, and something about its stuttering rhythm, and "Monocyte" gets more into the electro groove. The smooth synths of "Save Your Saviour" get a workout, but it's "Scionide" that some acid finally makes an appearance. But for all its propulsion (like on the tech-house of "Soulsearcher"), Octogen's music works on an internal level; it feels like a personal form of music, rather than merely faceless techno (even if the vocals on "The Reason Why (You Never Will)" are a bit naff). And it's with that that the twingey and upbeat "Centraal" and the simmering "With Respect...?" High quality work.
