The Red is the debut studio album by South Korean girl group Red Velvet. It was released on September 9, 2015 by SM Entertainment and distributed by KT Music. The album concept focuses solely on the group's "Red" image stemming from the group's name and concept, where "Red" shows their vivid and bold image, while the "Velvet" half is their more mature and sophisticated side. A follow-up to the album called The Velvet was released in the first half of 2016, composed of mostly R&B tracks and ballads.

The Red is the first album to be released by Red Velvet. It was released on September 9, 2015. The album features 10 tracks and the title track is entitled Dumb Dumb. Prior to the release, the group has held a 'comeback showcase' through the Naver V-Live app in a broadcast entitled 'Red VS Velvet' to promote and discuss the various concepts in the album

As Weezer’s sixth studio album, The Red Album was more experimental than ones in the past. For the first time, the album featured vocals from all four band members. Additionally, although Rivers Cuomo wrote most of the songs, the other band members were much more involved in the creative process. Many of the songs no longer follow the traditional horus/bridge/chorus format that most of Weezer’s earlier songs used. Red had four singles. Pork and Beans was made successful through its music video featuring many YouTubers and references to popular 2008 YouTube videos.
