I've Got My Own Album to Do is the first solo album by English musician Ronnie Wood, released in September 1974. An all-star project recorded outside of his activities with the Faces, it reached number 27 on the UK's New Musical Express chart. Wood has said that the album title originated from contributors such as George Harrison and Mick Jagger "nagging me to let them go home" and finish their own projects. The album was recorded at The Wick, Wood's house in Richmond, south-west London.
In 1974, Wood took a step out from out of the shadows and issued his first solo release, I'VE GOT MY OWN ALBUM TO DO. His debut has a definite 'home made' feel to it, with such all-star friends as the Face's keyboardist/pianist Ian McLagan and the Rolling Stones' Keith Richards join Wood in the festivities. Standouts include a pair of Richards tracks ("Act Together" and "Sure the One You Need"), a cover of "If You Gotta Make A Fool of Somebody," and the crude n' bluesy album closer, "Crotch Music. Up until the early 1970's, Ron Wood was known primarily as a sideman in various bands (The Creation, the Jeff Beck Group, and the Faces). Guitarist Ron Wood has been a member of several "classic" British rock outfits, but the one that he's undoubtedly most associated with is the Rolling Stones, with whom he's been a member since 1976. Born on June 1, 1947, in Hillingdon, London, Wood made his first appearances on record during the mid-'60s, first as guitarist for the Birds and then as a member of the oft-overlooked mod outfit the Creation (Wood only appeared on a smattering of singles, collected years later on the compilation Complete Collection, Vol. 1: Making Time). Wood also found the time to issue a string of solo releases during the mid-'70s: 1974's I've Got My Own Album to Do, 1975's Now Look, and a collaboration with ex-Faces bandmate Ronnie Lane, 1976's Mahoney's Last Stand, but this era of Wood's career is best remembered for his enlistment into the Rolling Stones.
