One of the foremost groups in San Francisco's ultra-geeky surf-garage scene, the Phantom Surfers generally are a lot of fun live and are at least mildly humorous. Along with playing some better-than-average surf instrumentals, the band dresses up in silly costumes, chucks various items at the audience, and tells bad jokes. But on this strange concept album, they do X-rated surf music with help from pals Dolomite and Rudy Ray Moore (old-school, black, X-rated comedians), which sounds like an okay idea but turns out to be excruciating torture
