Obsession is the seventh studio album by the British rock band UFO, released in 1978. This was the final studio album to feature Michael Schenker on lead guitar until he returned to the band in 1993. A single from the album, "Only You Can Rock Me", "Cherry", was also released in 1978. So too was the band's first 3-track EP "Only You Can Rock Me", "Cherry", "Rock Bottom", reaching No. 50 in the UK. The album was recorded at an abandoned post office in Los Angeles.

UFO's Obsession was to be their last studio record with star guitarist Michael Schenker. It did indeed contain lots of prime metal cuts, but some of the material ultimately fell flat. Only You Can Rock Me" kicks off the album with a fun and carefree feel, while the funky "Pack It Up (And Go)" contains some John Bonham-like drumming courtesy of Andy Parker. The opening momentum is carried on through the slow Zeppelin groove of "Ain't No Baby," but soon the band hits the skids.

Cherry' is quite mediocre but 'Looking Out for N. ' employs a string section to great effect and album closer 'Born To Lose' is beautiful in its simplicity while featuring one of Schenker's best solos. Obsession' is by no means as straightforward and consistent as the previous release 'Lights Out' but there is an extra dimension to their sound on here.
