Evergrey - The Atlantic flac album

Acclaimed Swedish dark melodic metal masters EVERGREY will release their new studio album, titled "The Atlantic", on January 25, 2019. The band has worked extensively on the follow-up to 2016's "The Storm Within" (which entered the charts on high positions in numerous countries). EVERGREY again teamed up with Jacob Hansen, who - just like with the band's previous releases "The Storm Within" and 2014's "Hymns For The Broken" - took care of mixing and mastering.

Though the first half of the album has some of the best songs in Evergrey’s discography (A Silent Arc, Weightless and A Secret Atlantis are all top 10 Evergrey songs material), the second half loses a little bit of its focus. End of Silence’, ‘Currents’ and ‘The Beacon’ are just a slight cut below the other songs on here. Luckily these three are broken up by the fantastic semi-balad ‘Departure’. The album also ends on a very high note with ‘This Ocean’.

Evergrey is a progressive metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. The band was founded in 1995 and released its debut album, The Dark Discovery, in 1998. After a short hiatus the band returned with its ninth album Hymns for the Broken, released on September 2014. Evergrey's lyrics have always been of the darker sort, and the same can be said of the band's imagery.

The assault continues, but assuages into a beating accompanied by the down-tuned heaviness that’s typified Latter-Day Evergrey, but playing an actual riff, a strangely-accented, off-kilter one at that. That menacing, anguished howl has never lacked gravitas, but it at last has found its conviction again. The Atlantic is the sound of Evergrey 2019 and it is arguably their final step through a tumultuous road, a gradual evolution leading to the path of the progressive-metal throne. They have licked their wounds, learned their lesson and primed for this return. Your mileage may vary, but whatever your previous voyage through Evergrey’s music has been, this record deserves your undivided attention.

This album has recaptured that balance and delivers their finest selection of songs. The band is on top of its game and this album is truly a crowning jewel among modern albums. Notable tracks: A Silent Arc, All I Have, End of Silence, Departure, & The Beacon. I usually don't describe as many songs from a single record, so you might have figured out that Evergrey's The Atlantic is a particularly strong album filled with gloomy emotions, astonishing musicianship and powerful vocals singing inspired lyrics. As soon as the epic voyage is over, you will feel like starting it all over again despite the fresh waves hitting your face. Fans of clever heavy, power and progressive metal should all give this record a spin. What we have here might already be album of the year material.
