Producer – Joe McPhee, Universal Indians (3). Recorded By, Mixed By, Mastered By – Michael W. Huon. Saxophone – John Dikeman. Saxophone, Trumpet – Joe McPhee. Track B1 for Dewey Redman.
Throughout his career t Joe McPhee has always appeared remarkably open to collaborations with musicians from different scenes. Sometimes these blossom into more established groupings such as his regular hook ups with the Scandinavian power trio The Thing and more recently with the English improv outfit Decoy (witness Oto (Bo'Weavil, 2010) and Spontaneous Combustion (OtoRoku, 2014)). Wanted" which features athletic bass and conversational drums, goes out in a series of cathartic riffs to complete a splendid album.
Skullduggery is the ninth studio album by Canadian-American rock band Steppenwolf. The album was released in May 1976, by Epic Records. It was the third of four released by Epic Records, and the last to feature keyboardist Wayne Cook, who left to join Player in 1977. John Kay – guitar, vocals. Bobby Cochran – guitar, vocals. George Biondo – bass guitar, vocals. Wayne Cook – keyboards. Jerry Edmonton – art direction, drums, percussion, backing vocals. Steppenwolf – producers. Mike Reese – mastering. Track Listing: Yeah, and?; Dewey's do; Skullduggery; Wanted.
Universal Indians W/ Joe McPhee favourites.
When Universal Indians invited Joe McPhee to be part of upcoming tours and recording they wanted the original spirit of american free jazz. Joe brought his knowledge and great spirit uplifting the music in his melodic and profound way. Results are beautiful as Dikeman's fury is complemented by McPhee's poetry and lyrical approach and rythm section is a powerhouse sometimes to turn into delicacy when the music asks for it. In "Skullduggery" they have the partnership of another one of the "new thing" mavericks, Joe McPhee.
