None of the Above is the 26th studio album by Peter Hammill, released on his Fie! label in 2000. Hammill recorded None of the Above in his home studio, Terra Incognita, between January 1999 and February 2000, playing, producing and arranging nearly all instruments and singing nearly all voices. Some contributions were made by Stuart Gordon (violin, viola) on three tracks and Manny Elias (drums, percussion) on one track.

Only for completionists (6%). The album ends on two longer songs, but the repetitiveness of "On The Surface" is not convincing. Eight minutes of the same notes are too long and offers little to be laudatory about. Backing vocals remind me some "Talking Heads" ones (but it is not the first time that I could find some similarities between them).

This release from English maverick singer/songwriter Peter Hammill exhibits something of a holding pattern after release of the excellent In a Foreign Town, which itself was a recovery from the abysmal. It isn't that there's anything vastly wrong with the album; it just gives off a feeling of having been to all these places before. There's no doubting one thing, though, Hammill is taking to MIDI by leaps and bounds, and improving his command of the technology with each successive release.

Peter Joseph Andrew Hammill (born 5 November 1948) is an English singer-songwriter. He is a founder member of the progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator. Best known as a singer, he also plays guitar and piano. He also acts as a record producer for his own recordings and occasionally for other artists. In 2012, he was recognised with the Visionary award at the first Progressive Music Awards.
