It has some great Frank Zappa quotes (all from one radio interview), interspersed with tracks that span his entire career, from "Freak Out" to his final 1988 tour. Considering that the disk is almost seventy minutes long, and focuses on a lot of different aspects of his music, it's not a terrible thing to use those shortened versions. And the collection has some spectacular music.

In a surviving 1967 radio interview, Zappa explained that the album's outlandish 11-minute closing track, "Return of the Son of Monster Magnet" was in fact an unfinished piece Hungry Freaks Daddy. The opening track on Freak Out!
