Magnum Force - Unlucky Punk / .44 Calibre flac album

I'm with GabbaGuerilla; Unlucky Punk is all well and good, but for me, .44 Calibre is where the real action is on this release. Frenetic, increasingly intense acid techno, nice and warm, and full of several cool break-and-release segments. 5/5 all the way.I'm not saying Unlucky Punk is uninteresting or anything like that; it's just that I find it average compared to .44 Calibre.Peace!

there will be mayhem when playing the clint A side of this tune...it is unavoidable...dark nasty vox with an even darker techno background make this late 90's event unmissable in any darktrance/acid/techno dj's box and not to mention a certain 70's policeman build, build build and lets fuckin 'ave ya!!!it would be unfair to declassify this piece of rabid plastic as a mere release...

You would be hard pushed to find many 90s London Acid Techno releases that exceed the extremely high standards set on both sides of this SUF classic. I bought the vinyl on release and 13 years later I can still play both sides without any qualms. Two classic tunes on one piece of vinyl - what more could you ask for? Totally essential for any acid techno collection. I just have to go with the flow here. It may seem like a bold statement claiming this the greatest ever SUF release, especially when one takes into consideration their extensive catalogue, but need I pick one, this would most probably be it. The A side is fantastic, with perfectly matching samples of the Dirty Harry character by Clint Eastwood, as a nervous melodic crescendo leads to a large explosion of acid around the 05:55 mark. The 303s are rabid and hard, they just wild out all over until the crazy sample is thrown back in and the track slowly ends. What a climax! The percussion is funky and the overall style of the track flirts quite well with acid trance and harder techno. As stated before, the flip side track is a seriously addictive and progressive acid trance builder which just pushes on with multiple combinations of hypnotic melodies and unstopable acid. No samples, no real breaks or climaxes, just incredibly raw and effective acid music, with elements of vintage trance and dance floor orientated techno. It's like the entire track is a head first dive all the way into the realms of acid... What an experience! Great melodies, great samples and some of the most damn memorable and effective acid synths I have ever heard. It isn't even necessary to try and file this release under any particular genre or style, Magnum Force's debut 12" can strike jack pot with people from all over the radar: old school acid heads, maniac techno dancers and trippin' trancers! Trust me and get this one, as it is one of those releases where the hype is justified, and the (very high) price is honestly earned!

.44 calibre is one of my alltime favourites. not "evil" like unlucky punk, but a straight perfect euphoric raving extatic acid track. touching exstatic acid that makes the crowd cheer and moan

I was perusing the S.U.F. website once day and noticed they were describing "Unlucky Punk" as their greatest ever release. An MP3 download later and I could believe it. Have to confess the track had passed me by out in clubland, but after having hunted down a copy on the net and playing it out it's clear that this is a masterful piece of acid techno. It's got the right mix of funk with a breakdown, leading into just about the fiercest 303 you can imagine. The Clint Eastwood sample is made to go with this track. Played it on New Year's eve '02 and people were cheering. 'Nuff said.
