NOFX - Liberal Animation flac album

Liberal Animation is the debut album by the American punk rock band NOFX. It was originally released in 1988 through Wassail Records, which was Fat Mike's label before Fat Wreck Chords. Brett Gurewitz produced the record, and even offered to release it on his label, Epitaph Records. The band decided to self-release it instead. It was re-released through Epitaph Records in 1991 with all new artwork. The title is a spoonerism of "animal liberation" and the cover artwork is a reflection of that.

Recorded by Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion/Epitaph fame, NOFX, in 1988, proved to be a formidable challenge for even him. The sound is very raw and loose; the lyrics are slightly humorous at best and sophomoric at worst. Compared to the brilliant work that followed after the band became serious, it's a tough listen. Liberal Animation sounds as if a talented, up-and-coming band somehow got three days in a studio with a legendary producer but didn't yet know how to take advantage of such an opportunity, so instead turned it into a laughable experience

NOFX's first mainstream album Liberal Animation is an interesting step into the world of punk. Originally Epitaph wanted to produce this but NOFX insisted that they would distribute the CD themselves. Of course that didn't go so well so eventually they gave into Epitaph.
