The Rentals are an American rock band fronted by vocalist Matt Sharp, best known as the former bassist for Weezer. Sharp has been the only consistent member since the group's inception. The band's best selling single is "Friends of P" (1995). The Rentals released two albums, Return of the Rentals (1995) and Seven More Minutes (1999) on Maverick Records before quietly splitting in 1999 following a world tour.

Sweetness and Tenderness album: Return of the Rentals tuning: standard!!! More simple than Ramones, the Rentals are a pip live, and Matt is a nut. In case of an error, in the music ONLY, e-mail me a correction, please. And if someone could tab the moog out for guitar, this would be complete.

Talk about The Rentals - Return Of The Rentals

Marelyne
Simply one of the best albums of the 90s. Period.
Alexandra
Weezer ripoff plain and simple. Good riddance that it falls further into obscurity.
Ironrunner
and weezer turned into hot garbage after Matt Sharp left so.....
MegaStar
lol, dude was in weezer until 1996, so there will obviously be some similarities

Rentals-"Return Of The Rentals" is one of the true pop classics that has been ridiculously ignored by an increasingly jaded cognoscenti. I so wish I was wealthy just to produce genius like this. Why in the world is this not on vinyl? Maybe it's true that real genius is only finally embraced 100 years in the future, I sure hope not in this case, release this on vinyl damn it.
Macage
This record needs to be released on vinyl, pretty please?! Weezer's stuff has been reissued to death. Why not show some love to Matt Sharp's Rentals?
Dancing Lion

Calling all manic-depressives: this album is your cure. And for anyone and everyone else: you know you love it. You could be JUST about to slash your wrists ending it all in anguish and despair and all you have to do is pop in this disc, and *poof* instant cure! You would have to simply not be human to not be instantly overcome with perma-grin immediately upon hearing the first few seconds of this disc on until the end (except for maybe the slightly melancholy "Move On"). But even the most melancholy of lyrical content turns magically into ditties of pure bliss in the hands of The Rentals. If you dont find yourself bopping (and I do mean bopping) like a retard to each and every tune (except for the aforementioned exception), then you ARE retarded and youd much rather LOOK like a retard than BE a retard, right? So bop on...just like youre retarded.

"Calling all manic-depressives"? Well, I finally learned why I love this album so much... :)
