Emerson Lake & Palmer - Pictures At An Exhibition flac album

Pictures at an Exhibition is a live album by the English progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer, released in November 1971 on Island Records. It is a recording of the band's arrangement of Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky, performed at Newcastle City Hall on 26 March 1971. Emerson wished to arrange the piece after seeing an orchestral performance of it several years before. He bought a copy of the score, and pitched the idea to Lake and Palmer, who agreed to adapt it.

Live album documenting Emerson, Lake & Palmer's interpretation of Modest Mussorgsky's modern classical work "Pictures At An Exhibition" which was also issued as a film shown in Cinemas. The original LP was issued on 1971 on Island's new HELP series, in a gatefold sleeve. Vinyl reissues exist on Manticore.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer's self-titled debut album was released in November 1970. They planned to record "Pictures At An Exhibition" for their next album, but decided instead to make a piece called "Tarkus" the centerpiece and title track. On March 26, 1971 at stop on their UK tour at Newcastle City Hall in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, the group performed "Pictures At An Exhibition" and released the recording as their first live album (third overall)
