Emerson Lake and Palmer?. where's the gEEtar dude. You've heard the studio albums, now hear ELP as they were meant to be heard, and where they TRULY earned the distiction of being at the very forefront of progressive rock. 4 photocopied 'bootleg' album covers with direct CD transfers of the albums (ie. could have had shows compressed into single disks) with each CD in a black white paper cover. Be careful with the disks. The boxset contains a nice 18''x12'' poster reproduction of a concert poster from their TRUE debut at Plymouth Guildhall August 23, 1970. The back of the poster has a bit of a writeup on the four shows in the set. A particularly interesting note is made on the first show of the set.

Works Volume 2 is the sixth studio album by Emerson, Lake & Palmer, released in 1977. Unlike Works Volume 1 (which consisted of three solo sides and one ensemble side), Works Volume 2 was a single album and it was seemingly a compilation of leftover tracks from other album sessions. While many derided the album for its apparent lack of focus, others felt that it showed a different side of the band, with blues, bluegrass and jazz being very prominent as musical genres in this recording. This set and its companion, the eight-CD volume two, display all the strengths that made Emerson, Lake & Palmer one of the world's most popular bands during the '70s, and the weakness that comes with a trio's attempt to play complicated music. Keith Emerson was a virtuoso keyboard player, Greg Lake supplied a pleasant voice and flair for writing melodic songs, and Carl Palmer played drums as though he would perish if he stopped. All thanks goes to the original releaser!
