Although it was as big a commercial success as Foo Fighters' three previous albums, 2002's One by One seemed flat and tired, as if their leader, Dave Grohl, had reached a songwriting slump or as if the band had exhausted its possibilities. The time was ripe for a reinvention, or at least a risk, and the group responded accordingly with In Your Honor, a double album containing one disc of hard rock and one disc of acoustic material.

Did anybody have a quality issue? Opened it brand new, and the disc had a film and playback was crackling and muffled. Shouldn't have to clean an untouched record.

The only reason for a 4-disc box is for the higher fidelity but shorter time per side of a 45 rpm pressing. There is a 2-disc 33 1/3 version. So - I doubt that a 33 1/3 box even exists.

Mine was exactly the same. Surface noise and actual scratches on them. I'm trying to figure out if this one is first pressing or not. The 33 version on discogs says the 33 is 2nd US press. Do you know? And with the scratches and surface noise, I wonder what its worth to sell. thanks Joe

To add to this conversation, I opened the one I ordered from someone and it played at 45 RPM. No distinction anywhere on the packaging inside or out. I have to say though, it was the dirtiest set of records I've ever opened. It's like the sleeves created a ton of dust and debris. I cleaned them with an Okki Nokki but there's a disappointing amount of surface noise. Oh well. It's still a beautiful looking set and it's only on the quiet songs when you can notice the surface noise.

Is there any way to distinguish whether a sealed, 4-LP, embossed box set (U.S.) is 45 or 33 1/3 RPM? The barcodes and markings appear to be identical. There is no mention of rotation speed anywhere on the box or sticker/label. Thank you.

I'm confused as to which is better and which came first. The dates on the listings here show the June release as 33 and the July release as 45. But the July 45 release indicates the 33's came 2nd. Any idea? Thanks

My DVD player (plays 'all formats', CDs, MP3s at least perfectly fine, came out in 2007) has some issues playing the CD side of disc 1, and severe issues playing the one of disc 2. I would guess this is more likely to be on the end of my player than the pressing itself.
