Big Data opens up . with The Business Of Emotion which starts out pedestrian and cliché with its FruityLoops royalty-free sample, treated to a heavily distorted bass synth then it suddenly explodes into something far closer to dance music than alternative has ever been. The bombastic vocals by the album’s first guest star White Sea, gives off substantial 80s vibe but in a way that doesn’t sound obnoxious as some as other current dance-rock acts.

When I started Big Data, and I guess with the debut album ., my focus was really about privacy and data collection and those kinds of themes. Every song was sort of inspired by some point in that discussion. The next sort of logical step when you’re talking about where big data, in the tech sense, goes is AI because AI is essentially just all of our data combined in a massive scale to form intelligence. Artificial intelligence really just is people, like on an insanely huge scale

Big Data made their television debut playing "Dangerous" on Late Night with Seth Meyers and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and Entertainment Weekly, named one of Rolling Stone's "10 New Artists You Need to Know" and picked for USA Today's "On the Verge" spotlight. The band's new album, ., features a wide variety of guest spots from Rivers Cuomo (Weezer), Twin Shadow, White Sea, Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak), Dylan Rau and Ted Feldman (Bear Hands), Jamie Lidell, and Kimbra. This guy is a triggering genius. I saw Big Data at The Brandy Theater in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They put on a great show. The album . has a lot of great singer on it. I'm sure it will product a lot of hits and sell a whole lot of copies.

Big Data is an American electronic music project created by producer Alan Wilkis. Big Data is best known for its single "Dangerous", featuring Joywave, which reached number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart in August 2014, and was certified gold by the RIAA in May 2015.
