Clouds is the second studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, released on May 1, 1969, by Reprise Records. After releasing her debut album to considerable exposure, Mitchell recorded the album at A&M Studios in Hollywood. She produced most of the album and painted a self-portrait for its cover artwork. Clouds has subtle, unconventional harmonies and songs about lovers, among other themes.

Clouds is a stark stunner, a great leap forward for Joni Mitchell. Vocals here are more forthright and assured than on her debut and exhibit a remarkable level of subtle expressiveness. Guitar alone is used in accompaniment, and the variety of playing approaches and sounds gotten here is most impressive.

Joni Mitchell came strumming back in 1969 with the sophomore smash "Clouds". Clouds" won a grammy, gained Mitchell a broader audience. It even included the personal version of the mega hit " Both Sides Now". All of these obvious features are not what makes " Clouds" special. The sincerity of the lyrics, along with the inspired mood pieces, is what lends this recording a cozy, warm feeling. When this album was originally released in the 60's, my best friend and I sang the two part version of "The Gallery" in a cafe in Paris.
