He is considered to be one of the best-known and most influential musicians and authors in Italian pop/rock music history. Battisti started his career in 1966 and from 1969 to 1994 he released 18 albums in his home country. Il fuoco" closes off the album on a decidedly different note. Far and away the most experimental track on any of Battisti's first five albums, "Il fuoco" makes use of distorted guitar noises layered on top of each other in a way that's almost reminiscent of (dare I say it?) Fred Frith. Of the three I've heard so far, this one is the first one that I think could actually be called (at least crossover) prog with a straight face instead of merely being an influence on later prog bands.
