Songs Of Innocence is the most intimate album we've ever made. With this record we were looking for the raw, naked and personal, to strip everything back. The idea of the unique relationship between a parent and child, the image of a father and son, came from the band. The shoot with Larry and his son was initially an experiment but everyone loved it as a visual metaphor for the record. and reveal how music changed everything.

Perhaps the upcoming companion album, inevitably named Songs of Experience, will contain all the darker, cynical stuff from these sessions.

Songs of Innocence isn’t a full-on concept record about the band’s youth – the lyrics to Wave appear to deal more adult concerns: a long-term relationship, distractions, and the struggles that come from both: Are we ready to be swept off our feet?/And stop chasing/Every breaking wave. 3. California (There Is No End to Love) Produced by: Declan Gaffney, Paul Epworth and Danger Mouse A bright, mid tempo anthem that begins with layered backing vocals that sound like a homage to the Beach Boys. 5. Iris (Hold Me Close) Produced by: Paul Epworth and Ryan Tedder The most emotionally raw song on the album, Iris confronts Bono’s loss of his mother, who passed away after collapsing at his grandfather’s funeral when he was only 14. Bono sings about the ache in my heart that is so much part of who I am.

The day was September 9, 2014 and one of Apple's most significant Fall events. It had been rumored in the days leading up to the event that the popular Irish rock band U2 would be participating at the keynote, possibly with a live performance.

Songs of Innocence' features 11 new songs. A complete tracklisting is below

Songs of Innocence - its title taken from William Blake, although many music nerds may first think of David Axelrod - does indeed incorporate electronic elements in a way no U2 album since Pop has, weaving samples, loops, and other flourishes within music that otherwise adheres to the self-conscious classicism that has been the band's stock in trade

Talk about U2 - Songs Of Innocence

Painwind
I am U2 fan and have all their albums in CD format. This year I have decided to go vinyl so I am buying only vinyl albums now, mainly due to “loudness wars”...but I will check first how it sounds before opening my wallet after this U2 disaster. I bought this record just recently. When I heard it for the first time I thought something has happened to my cartridge! I have immediately swapped the record with the one that sounds good from my small collection….and it played as it should, so the cartridge was OK. I realized that U2 record is bad, very bad. For technical reasons not worth a penny. I must specify this statement. The record is pressed OK, no noise, no pops, no warps, nothing, it is pristine. It plays absolutely quiet. Music sounds very nice, the instruments, the clarity and the space is really excellent. But Bono’s vocal sounds absolutely terrible. It is totally distorted and an unbelievable amount of sibilance is there. It is unlistenable (at least when Bono sings). I have never heard anything that bad. I have downloaded the digital version in wav format. That is better in terms of sibilance and distortion (vocal), but still not sounding okay, not clean. It looks like they did not care at all about mastering for vinyl……as it is obvious no one from the band nor their responsible personnel gives a shit how does their album, their work sounds….When I am listening to my dad’s old records…for instance Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, Led Zeppelin you think they are in the room, they play for you…..When you play this U2 rubbish you have to get out of the room! :(
catterpillar
What a poor pressing. Crackling all the way and very distorted parts especially on A3, B2 and C1. Unlistenable and a typical GZ pressing. Avoid at all cost. I will try the US version instead.
Nirn
Mine sounds excellent, Very few pops and crackles and the sound is nice and clear with plenty of depth

The name of the album is "son gs of innocence" not "Songs". On every official releases, even on cd you'll see "son gs". It's related with the cover image - son hugging his father, it's a part of their creative concept - and the name too. So, my question is - Why not to write everywhere the correct name of the album??? It's about respect for monsters of rock!So the questio

And the answer is even U2's official website states the album as "Songs Of Innocence" : http://www.u2.com/music/Albums/4152/Songs+Of+Innocence"Son gs" is an obvious reference to the album cover and the numerous themes of the album, but the album is named "Songs Of Innocence", not "Son gs Of Innocence".

Horrible quality of recording .... or pressing , 1 st track is aweful with strong sibilianse.. shitty work (
Cerar
No, it's down to the stylus, if you have a cheap stylus you will get sibilance. My sounds fantastic too. I am using AT VM540ML
Jelar
Mine sounds fantastic! All sides are perfect! Am I alone so lucky?
Humin
LP1 sounds pretty bad. lots of sibilance, and even distorted as if a lot of dust is stuck to the needle. Anyone else? I may have a bad pressing? LP2 sounds a lot better, but still not ideal.
Zbr
For a GZ pressing it sounds like you made out well. Try grit, footprints, pubic hairs, indiscernible detritus, and comically wobbly platters. "Scratched" pfftttt....
olgasmile
No surprise ! It's gzvinyl ! the worst horrible pressing of the world ! try US press !
greed style
Mine is also a mess! Very poor quality of the pressing.
grand star
See my post here: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/gz-vinyl-quality-control-or-lack-of-see-pics.310015/page-10#post-11629903The GZvinyl factory is just a sad joke... the quality control is so bad that 2 of my sealed copies came with scratched LP.
MeGa_NunC
Noticing the same, in particular at The Miracle. Others sound fine.
lolike
There is a distortion because the lacquer disc was cut with a high level. Vivat loudness war :-/
Shakagul
Mine sounds bad too :-( I think they rushed the mastering.
Уou ll never walk alone
Does it come with a download?
