This is Neil Mulligan's third album, after "Barr na Cuille" and "The Leitrim Thrush," and like on those, the piping, on instruments pitched at C and D, is unaccompanied. The Whinny Hills Of Leitrim The Drops Of Brandy. Uirchill An Chreagain. The Salamanca Bonny Kate The Copperplate. Port Na H-eala Air An Traigh. Lucy Campbell Miss Monaghan. This classic CD ranks among the finest examples of pure piping that you are likely to find among the ranks of piping CDs in the last few years.

It was first published in 1949. Cré na Cille literally means "Earth of the Church"; it has also been translated as Graveyard Clay, Graveyard Soil, Graveyard Earth, Church and Clay and The Dirty Dust. The novel is written almost entirely as conversation between the dead in a Connemara graveyard.

This is Neil Mulligan’s third album. In a sense biographical details aren’t all that material; All Ireland titles won, albums released to critical acclaim, plaudits gained, because the story of what’s truly behind the music on this CD is that of a world of music. What’s important is that this is an unusual work these days, work seldom heard, that of a master solo musician playing with wit, great style and vivacity
